Osiyo and welcome! Wado for sharing your knowledge. With the passing of each day the message comes to me, stronger and stronger, that the Native American traditions we were given are the only thing that can save Turtle Island from the destruction that has already begun.

I welcome you and brothers and sisters from other Native Nations, to share you spiritual knowledge here, in the hope that BTTB Journal can pass on the information our people will need to survive.

Wado.

to begin, honoring that the feather has passed back to me, seyu sister and i welcome your dialogue.since we are a matrilineal people, your voice is most welcome, as needed, at one time we could not even make war with out such.our covenants, as other red ones are the oldest on this corner of the earth and elders have always told me we cherokee reflect the earth and one day even the settlers will reflect the earth, so all we have to do is hold on! expanding on my first sharing, fire, is our cloest allie, in fact, one of the names of cherokee is fire - atsila-tsila(gi) meaning fire. so we are the fire people. uhetequa(god-yowa sect) and the sun(fire sect ) are also fire. water is our oldest allie, the earth was first water and then the earth( island. islands-cherokees, turtle island, our iroquois cousins ) was raised upon it. baptism and bathing (going to water)accesses it`s powers and essences .lastly, the pale one did visit many red nations, where do you think the mormons got the ideal of this devine one. devinity comes to all, not one race or people.and the many stories of this pale one is why it was easy to make mass conversions of the cherokees(1800,s). for the people thought that the settlers and us were talking about the same being, history proved them wronge.

Osiyo,
I follow the white path. I think it is to sit in council and plan and strategize. Being a peacemaker, seeing can we get there without WAR. As all of you can tell this country is on a war path of imperialism and cultural domination. Many of our young warriors (brothers and sisters) join the occupation army to fight in foreign lands with the false promise of education and better opportunities. To me the white path is to plant and cultivate corn, beans and squash. Maybe it is like that Ying/Yan stuff. In all of us there is Red and White, some of us will lead a white path but inside we understand that red energy.
Maybe someone else out there can help me refine the white path explanation.

voicing over the feather,it begins to move. after fire ; our cloest allie and water; our oldest allie: earth and air round out the circle of our (cherokee) most basic allies. earth, is our guardian allie: earth gives us life, earth maintains us and its components (organic, and minerial) renew our flesh(ie food ): we in turn reflect its glory ( are colored in various hues). air is our most problematic allie. air is the most substainal to "god" or the sun and yet the least material (in composition) to us. the first (earth ) is courted by manipulating it (the earth, soil) . the second by sound and smoke (herbial mixtures, tobacco ) and incense9 ceder foremost) the pale one:suyeta, atenote (cherokees); hiwatha(chippewa); deganaweda(iroquois,huron-wyandotte,neutral,tobacco,erie,etc. ); gooscap (algonkians ); red hat or red horn (souians ); sweet medicine (cheyennes); baholinkonga (hopi ); quetzalcoatl (aztecs ); kulkulcan (maya)-at least one image of which is found in mel gibsons apacalypto; and virachoca (incas ) : came to some, but not all indigenous nations and tribes. prssently, their are 500 federally acknowledged indigenous bodies (more if states acknowledged are included ) the pale one was a teacher, not a savior. divinty is found in all who maintain their first ancestors covenants. fore they have not lost their way or mixed their ways( religions; which the elders always stated is a source of maddess. by extension, the worlds maddness. HAPPY NEW YEARS

red thunder, atsina; wado for your input and spirit(energy), others please speak up. the feather , moves to one voice (focused thought/ vibration) : the seven feasts move to many voices (focused thoughts/ vibrations); as reality, the realms, the world. the whitepath is more than council talk; it is the most basic level of our (cherokee) way (religion) or whitepath( the last priest/ prophet, buried at hopkinsville ky) would not have lead the second civil war( against john ross and the cherokee nation-1813-1823). the whitepath at its most basic form is interaction: first, with our world/ realm-hince the sharing about allies and second, with each other( cherokee to cherokee). the u.s.(uncle sam ) has been an empirial power since 1776 ( manifest destiny, pax americana) and its wars against red people( yet we survive). the red youth go to war, espically since the reservation era (ghetoism, s.a. bantustans) ; because it is one way to be a warrior /deathdealer and not end up in a ironhouse(the original core of a.i.m.- 60-70 were veterans) and even today some red youth do war
rituals before entering the service. education and opportunities are found under pressent acknowledged tribal goverments(legally) planting(mechanical/ plow farming: male ) is a settler concept and practice. in our way and myths; luckly hunter (ie, war. death) was and is the male way. maize (life, birth/ planting ) was and is the female way. actually, the three sisters (corn/maize ,baens, squash ) is an iroquois concept: cherokee grew/grow these three plants, but anciently, this was not a trium (trinity) concept. all is duality (red/ white; within, without): such was nancy ward- a noted female warrior( tenn.-red) or nancy brown -a noted female peacemaker(ala.-white) or great chief little carpenter ( tenn.-white) or oconostota great war chief( tenn.-red)

Siyo Cheerekee, wado for your words. I want to add a little to what you said, words passed on to me by Grandmother Raven Hail.

Fire
Fire is a rite of purification and spiritual transformation. The flame is personified as Ancient Red. The ashes are Ancient White.

Cherokee New Year
The Cherokee Solar New Year started with the heliacal (sun centered) setting of the Pleiades Star Cluster, but it was celebrated on the first New Moon afterwards which was sometime around November 1. The Pleiades culminates (reaches directly overhead at midnight) around the middle of November, and that was another important date; the Leonid shower around that time each year sets off fireworks to celebrate the New Year.

the heart of the cherokee whitepath is relationships( interpersonal, inter energies- allies) ; lakotas, all my relations. this is the last sharing on light/ fire, until the next season of lights(western). we(cherokee) are beings of light: as you shine; your light(soul/ spirit) will touch others. a lack of light/ fire( in you and the world- espically during yhe winter) is one source of depression. global warming weither from man or nature( within- inner earth, warming: without- proton belt, solar flairs, etc.) is a form of fire/light. those flicking flames of fire/light:t.v.'s:are the new forms of fire/light. our ancestors read fires/ light( images in the coals, flames, vapors) for messages from the devine. so can you! even vegetable matter touched by fire/ light has devine in it( even items touched by lighting have fire/ light in them).

Cheerekee, you wrote that depression is caused by lack of light (sunlight). Would being in the sun more cure people of depression, I know so many depressed people. Many students feel like school is a time of imprisonment, especially in the winter. Maybe people working all day in offices have the same feeling. Last month there was an article that said people needed time in the sun to create vitamin D, and that the sun was actually good for us. It always seems like the ways that the whites had us get rid of (much time outdoors in the sun) always turn out to be good for us. And what they tell us is good (gambling, alcohol) are detrimental in the end.

pretty dancer; you are so correct: this has always been the call of our ancesters: to hold on; to never give up our ways; the settlers where always cosidered godless ones; they left where the creater/createss placed them; they stole anothers home/ women/way of life: all the while proclaiming god: junaluska( n.c.chief-1840's) funny they(whites) are not better after having had it( the bible) for so long.your voice is welcome!

The element air embodies much: it is represented by blue:color and man (elemental; north being). all air: still air, winds, and hail; are blue in compostion (problems, troubles, the like): trees, crops, structures, etc. affected by winds were/are "dis harmonious": as also have air/blue man; in them. tornadoes, funnels, whirlwinds, twisters, 4 winds come to "disharmonious" areas (a black one was seen west ward as the last removal party left on the trail of tears 1838-39; harolding future events in the west (now oklahoma). Atomspheric air streams; breaths of blue man: are counter clockwise blows; lows: and clockwise blows; highs. Spirits and ghosts move through air, as fish move through water: Such are constantly around us (as we are in a crowd): their touch-paralysis: their voices- distant speech.

As you follow the whitepath: "godless", equals disharmonious, non balanced, ME-ISTIC. The european god (or dog- remember son of sam murders- makes you think): a GOD of human traits (you will only worship ME) and weaknesses (kill, rape, destroy in MY name): Persona Enlightened:? is very non white path!

Spring(march to may) is the time of the cherokee longman or longsmoke (ie water): the first element of OUR creation story; water, longman (head-sources of water: feet- run off's into lakes, seas, oceans) or longsmoke (mists rising from waters) is the west or black elemental (black is the color of spirits and death) being: water can be living( moving, running, flowing- agressive) or dead( still; bottled- plastics infused, essences stripped, municipal-quiet, passive). It can be positive (sun, light- direct infused) or negative (moon- reflected light infused). It can be fresh (from the source- head or body) or old (from the feet). We cherokee: are a WE-ISTIC (not socialistic or communialistic or communistic) people: the hunters (providers-males) cared for the non hunters: the growers ( providers- females) cared for the non growers; the clan mothers/headmen cared for the family-lineage-clan); the chiefs cared for the people: "godless" ways are ME-ISTIC: look at me (outlandist appearence-hair, clothes, speech); ME on t.v./movies; ME (god) over yours: PEOPLE YOUR walking the whitepath moves the feather (see afore) changes reality-changes the world.

Osiyo, Cheerakee!

Your words about the water remind me of what a Taoist elder taught me, "when you drink the water, remember the source."

As I drink the water, and I remember the source, I give thanks for the rivers and streams, the springs, and even the heavenly rains that brought them.

While giving thanks for ama, water, we must also renew our pledge to the Creator, as Tsalagi, as Native Americans, as Indians, to care for and protect the water and land.

Are there any Cherokee predictions of the end of the world? A lot of Christians been talking about this and these days it does look like things are getting worse. I finally get my diploma and a job and now it looks like the world is gonna end with all this war and warming and crazy people shooting everything up. For real, do you think we're doomed or our people gonna pull through like we did in the past?

I do not believe in Christian- predictions or who knows a God of the church taxes required ???
the church is a political business and uses believes for its interests.
no God destroys the mother earth…. it is humans work .
we need the way .. back to the nature ...far away from money ,war, advertisement, materials.
it is our choice to protect or destroy our mother grounds .
how is your choice ?

i greet you friend and wish your way is peaceful and good all time .. Iljana
