The House Rung With Laughter
The house rung with laughter
Of children at play
And I knew in my heart
That would all change someday
Now my mate is beside me
But the children are gone
And sometimes I question
Why I ever was born
But I stand before crowds
Every bright Sunday morn
And try to explain why
We all have been born
Some heed my message
Some don’t seem to hear
But I honor my calling
Year after year
And the house grows more silent
And the teardrops still fall
And I hope there is more
If I haven’t done it all
But I walk on in faith
And ponder my soul
And hope for more light
Before I grow old.
