Osiyo! I'm Day Starr, Onondaga/Cherokee/Hakka/Black, Wolf Clan Woman and the editor of Back To The Blanket: A Cherokee/Native American Journal. Back To The Blanket was created as a Cherokee newsletter while my husband Evergreen and I were members of the late Mother Mary Atkinson's "Meli Trail of Tears Longhouse" in Brooklyn, New York.

I continued BTTB Journal after Mother Atkinson's passing, and expanded the Journal to include other Native American and Indigenous peoples. Cherokee are still the foundation of BTTB Journal, but you may also find stories and articles about Lakota, Miskito, Onondaga, Taino and various other Native American Nations, as well as articles about and from indigenous peoples from around the world.

This forum is an opportunity for BTTB Journal readers to stay in touch beyond the six times a year that the journal is published. I will be re-posting some of the articles and stories from BTTB Journal here, but the purpose of this site is to give everyone a chance to come together, to share, to laugh, to cry, to tell stories, share poetry, to ask questions and to give advice.

You can take your time and read each forum, or you can read just the topics that catch your eye. But don't just be a lurker, post your ideas, thoughts and information. Cherokees are not shy maidens nor stoic cigar store Indians. We respectfully speak our minds, we enjoy a good joke, and we have opinions! So take the Talking Feather and introduce yourselves!

Walk In Harmony,

Day
